Why it works

Logistics and supply chain management, the planning, movement, storage, and coordination of goods from source to consumer (transportation, warehousing, inventory, distribution, procurement, and the systems that coordinate them), is a massive, essential, and fast-growing field with abundant in-demand careers, yet it is largely invisible to students. Teaching it reveals this hidden system and develops real skills: systems thinking, logistics and operations concepts, problem-solving and optimization, use of data and technology, and awareness of global interconnection. Strong programs ground the field in genuine concepts and problem-solving (not just terminology), connect it to the technology and data that run modern supply chains, and link it to the many careers, from operations and transportation to supply chain analysis and management, that the field offers.
